Scrap metal is an old industry. Benmet isn’t. After nearly 70 years in business, they’ve kept pace with a trade that’s modernized well past the gritty stereotype, with real-time pricing, current systems, and a level of transparency most of their competitors don’t offer.
Their old website told the opposite story. It looked the part of the past, and it hid every one of those differentiators. A customer comparing scrap dealers online saw nothing that separated Benmet from the yard down the road, when in reality the difference was the whole pitch. In an industry where customers half-expect to get lowballed, the company that shows its pricing up front wins trust before the first phone call, and Benmet’s site wasn’t showing it.
What We Built
Our website design rebuilt the site around that trust gap. Real-time scrap pricing sits front and centre, so customers know exactly where they stand before they pick up the phone. No calling around, no wondering if the number changes when you show up at the scale. In a business built on price-per-pound, that transparency is the strongest marketing Benmet has, and now it’s the first thing a visitor sees.
The rest of the site got the same treatment: clear, current, and built to reflect how the company actually operates today rather than how the industry looks in people’s heads. Modern design for a modern operation, with none of the rust the sector’s websites usually carry.
We built it on WordPress so Benmet’s team can keep pricing and content current themselves, without waiting on a developer every time the market moves. In a business where prices shift constantly, that independence isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s the only way a real-time pricing promise stays honest.
The Result
The site has been live since 2024 and continues to do its job: representing a 70-plus-year-old company that’s anything but stuck in the past, and putting the transparency that wins Benmet customers right where prospects can see it. Two years on, their team still runs it themselves.
